efficient LED conversions for outdoor luminaire

We have been offering LED conversion kits for outdoor luminaires for many years – both for its own products and for third-party luminaires. The basic requirement is that the luminaires to be retrofitted are still in excellent condition and offer a high degree of protection.

To determine whether a third-party luminaire is suitable for retrofitting, one sample unit is sent to our factory. There, a retrofit kit using professional LED modules is developed and tailored specifically to the luminaire. The kit is installed and undergoes both electrical and thermal testing. In some cases, modifications to the luminaire may be recommended in order to achieve the required protection rating.

Many customers request retrofit plug-ins with screw bases. While these may appear more cost-effective in the short term, they are not a sustainable solution for professional street lighting. There are numerous reasons why LEIPZIGER LEUCHTEN advises against the use of retrofit plug-ins. Retrofit kits with professional LED modules remain the most efficient and cost-effective long-term solution for transforming a well-preserved but inefficient luminaire into a durable, high-performance LED light.

  • Resource and energy savings: Retrofitting a luminaire is generally more cost-effective than replacing it entirely. Intelligent LED drivers with control and dimming functions ensure maximum energy efficiency. Additionally, the Constant Light Output (CLO) function maintains consistent luminous flux from the moment of installation.
  • Improved light quality: LED boards with lens technology optimise light distribution and provide precise illumination. All common colour temperatures (warm white, neutral white, cool white) can be implemented.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: the light level can be increased as required, e.g. for lighting tasks with increased frequency
  • Optimally matched components: All elements are perfectly coordinated, which is often not the case with other retrofit solutions (e.g. plug-in retrofit lamps).
  • Eligible for funding: Retrofitting may be financially supported through subsidy programmes.
