SASKIA DRAWS ATTENTION IN BERGEN

The forecourt of Bergen City Hall in western Norway has been redesigned. As part of this project, our luminaire SASKIA has been installed in Bergen. It stands out with its bold red colour and angular shape, serving as a striking disruption in the urban landscape that briefly catches the attention of passers-by, sparks conversations, and ignites curiosity. The intricate pattern on SASKIA was meticulously applied by hand over the base colour—a true work of art. The design tender for the forecourt was won by artists Lutz-Rainer Müller and Stian Ådlandsvik with their project "Folkevalgte." The goal was to transform the area into an open space for everyone, encouraging interaction and dialogue. This vision was realised by collecting various streetlights from Bergen’s eight districts and reimagining them in a unique way. Some luminaires feature boulders, placed approximately two metres above the ground, giving the illusion of floating. These unusual elements add an otherworldly touch, arousing curiosity and inviting people to pause and engage in this public space. ART THAT INSPIRES CURIOSITY, ENGAGEMENT, AND DIALOGUE
