STELLA AND THOMAS LIGHT UP THE NEW COMBINED HEAT AND POWER PLANT IN LEIPZIG

The attractive combined heat and power plant (CHP) South, in Leipzig, Saxony, was opened at the end of 2023. It is one of the cleanest gas-fired power plants in the world, as the combination of gas turbines with state-of-the-art burner technologies and hot water generators as well as the catalytic converters enable operation with minimal emissions. Air pollutants are far below the legally permissible limits. Best of all, there are plans to switch completely to renewable technologies for electricity and heat generation in the future: The combustion of green hydrogen. Future-proof technology and design were also chosen for the outdoor area. The linear STELLA light columns and bollard luminaires and the striking THOMAS wall luminaires were fitted with Zhaga bases and the intelligent CLEVER LIGHT lighting control system. This means that the energy generated in the HKW is only used when the light is needed during the hours of darkness. The sensors detect employees and visitors and guide them safely around the site to the desired destination and then slowly return to idle mode. But CLEVER LIGHT is also suitable as a deterrent, as the light switches on as soon as the sensors detect unwanted visitors to the premises and sends a message to the control center. The site has been renovated in keeping with its listed status and contemporary industrial buildings have been added. The shapes and functions of the THOMAS wall light were adapted for this project so that the lights are harmonious on the different wall situations. In natural light, the STELLA light columns and bollard luminaires blend harmoniously into the different styles. This makes the energy transition visible in urban areas and enhances the cityscape at the same time. LIGHT ON DEMAND WITH STELLA AND THOMAS: PROTECTING RESOURCES WHILE INCREASING COMFORT.
