SHAPING NEW PATHS WITH LIGHT.
New York has the High Line. Leipzig has Parkbogen Ost – and LEIPZIGER LEUCHTEN is proud to be part of this remarkable transformation. From 1878 to 2012, trains crossed the Sellerhausen Viaduct. Today, it opens up new perspectives for the eastern part of Leipzig: between historic natural stone arches, trees and grasses, a new space has emerged for walking, cycling and meeting – all with views of Leipzig’s skyline. Railway history is becoming a piece of the city’s future. On 2 October 2026, the redesigned viaduct was ceremonially opened as the first section of the Sellerhäuser Bogen. Together with Lord Mayor Burkhard Jung, Deputy Mayor for the Environment Heiko Rosenthal and Deputy Mayor for Urban Development Thomas Dienberg, an important milestone in this extraordinary urban development project for Leipzig was celebrated. For this special location, LEIPZIGER LEUCHTEN co-developed the PABO lighting column. Its clear, linear design accompanies the elevated pathway while allowing the historic architecture to take centre stage. One detail, in particular, creates a link to the site’s former use: the regionally manufactured aluminium extrusion profile welded into the column recalls the waiting shelters that once stood here. Along the pathways and access points to Parkbogen Ost, the FRANZI column complements the lighting concept and provides compliant illumination. The future has also been considered from a technical perspective: the Zhaga interfaces of the PABO allow for later expansion with intelligent lighting control. Installed today, prepared for tomorrow – for us, “future-proof” means taking future requirements into account already during the development stage. For us, as a Leipzig-based company, it is something very special to contribute to a place that preserves the history of our city while opening up new paths for the future.
