The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Porsche plant in Leipzig took place in 2000. The plant, which produces around 550 vehicles a day, was opened in 2002. The Porsche plant also includes the customer center in the shape of a diamond, which is used for events and where around 2,000 vehicle handovers take place every year. The shape of the building resembles that of a diamond and its basic structure consists of a base made of exposed concrete and a conical, 32-meter-high tower clad with metal panels. The architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners from Berlin have integrated the PETRA light columns from LEIPZIGER LEUCHTEN into the outdoor area in an elegant special color and with fluorescent lamps. The slender and linear PETRA columns create visual axes and draw the eye to the impressive work. In the inner courtyard, the PETRA wall luminaires in the same design blend perfectly into the building complex. The luminaire heads were replaced in 2023. Since then, state-of-the-art LED technology has illuminated the streets, paths and squares on the factory premises efficiently, safely and atmospherically.
