NEW LIGHT FOR FAMILIAR STRUCTURES
In Muttenz and Sissach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, new ROMY luminaire heads provide modern street lighting while preserving the familiar character of the local streetscape. Traditionally styled luminaires with a similar design were already in use. That is why the distinctive shape and large pearled cover have been retained – now combined with modern LED technology. ROMY was specifically adapted to meet the requirements of each location: in Sissach, with dedicated cycle-path optics and warm white light at 3,000 K; in Muttenz, with different light distributions and power levels depending on the respective street situation. One key difference compared with the previous lighting: instead of emitting light in all directions, the new optics distribute it precisely onto roads and traffic areas. Sustainability was also an important consideration: the existing poles and brackets remain in place – only the new luminaire heads were individually adapted to fit the existing brackets. Standardised Zhaga sockets also provide the foundation for future sensors and intelligent lighting control. PRESERVING WHAT EXISTS. MODERNISING TECHNOLOGY. ENABLING THE FUTURE.
