ENERGY EFFICIENCY MEETS DESIGN IN SONTHOFEN
By upgrading its street lighting, the picturesque district town of Sonthofen in the Oberallgäu region of Bavaria has implemented a large part of its master plan to enhance the quality of stay and reduce energy consumption in the town centre and pedestrian zone. More than 100 luminaires have been replaced in the heart of the town, now illuminating the main shopping streets, squares, and roads in a new light. For this purpose, Sonthofen opted for the LEIPZIGER LEUCHTE RICHARD. The classic single- and double-arm post-top luminaires with a clear cylinder blend discreetly and harmoniously into the colourful and playful centre. The RICHARD luminaire family was expanded for Sonthofen to include suspended rope-mounted and wall-mounted versions. All luminaires were equipped with Zhaga sockets to ensure sustainability, allowing for individual light control at any desired time via the mounted HUBs. In consideration of nature conservation, all luminaires feature downward-facing, warm white LEDs with a colour temperature of 2,700 K, which help reduce insect attraction and preserve the visibility of the night sky. As a result, the RICHARD LED luminaire family creates a coherent cityscape with significantly reduced energy consumption, supported by intelligent lighting control. The project was realised within the framework of the EU funding programme REACT-EU. RICHARD MAKES SONTHOFEN FUTURE-PROOF.
