A GDR CLASSIC. REIMAGINED.

The town of Zschopau, situated in Saxony’s Erzgebirgskreis district, combines its rich motorcycle heritage with established residential neighbourhoods and green open spaces. Along Straubeweg, the history of GDR residential architecture meets modern lighting technology – in a setting where the distinctive character of prefabricated housing estates remains clearly visible today. This is where ERICH comes into its own: a modern reinterpretation of the classic GDR residential street luminaire, the RSL. Since the 1960s, its distinctive design has been a familiar feature of countless residential areas throughout the GDR. ERICH preserves this recognisable design heritage while bringing it into the present with modern, energy-efficient LED technology. The post-top luminaires, designed for Ø 76 mm post spigots, feature asymmetric light distribution and house-side shielding to provide precise illumination of pathways and adjacent areas while minimising unwanted light spill. With a mounting height of five metres, ERICH blends seamlessly into the existing residential surroundings. In this way, the design legacy of a GDR classic lives on, while the lighting meets the demands of today. THE DESIGN OF YESTERDAY. THE LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY OF TODAY.
