TUCHFABRIK WERDAU BUILDS A BRIDGE BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE
The town of Werdau, near Zwickau in Saxony, was once an important industrial centre. Numerous factories with their chimneys characterised the townscape, including the traditional Werdau cloth factory, which was founded around 1850. Cloth was successfully manufactured here for around a century and a half - until the fall of communism in 1989. Today, the historic factory building has found a new purpose: The non-profit foundation ‘Tuchfabrik Werdau’, founded in 2019, is committed to preserving this industrial monument. The site has been transformed into a lively cultural and meeting centre. In this way, the history of the cloth factory is interwoven with the present - in keeping with its original purpose. In order to preserve the unique character of the site, the outdoor lighting was carefully integrated into the historical ambience. With its classic design, the Alfred 1/R-U LED luminaire head blends harmoniously into the ensemble. Equipped with modern technology - including the soft start and eco-smart function, cool-saving technology and constant luminous flux maintenance (CLO) over a service life of 65,000 hours - the luminaire ensures sustainable and efficient lighting. The cast aluminium luminaire with micaceous iron oxide coating emphasises the historical character of the surroundings. ALFRED COMBINES TRADITION WITH MODERNITY.
